AED use and your certificate
Operating an AED safely, then a Red Cross digital certificate with a unique ID and QR code, valid two years.
How far is the Red Cross class from Walnut?
About 7.2 miles and roughly 15 minutes. Most drivers head north on Grand Ave past Mt. SAC, then cut west toward Barranca St in West Covina; from the Mt. SAC campus itself it is shorter. Parking at 100 N. Barranca St is free, and the classroom is upstairs in Suite #255-B.
Mt. SAC staff and student workers
Mt. San Antonio College has enough athletics, child development and campus safety staff that certification comes up all year rather than once. A department that needs several people certified can have us teach on campus; an individual student worker can take a Wednesday evening or Saturday class around other commitments. Check with your supervisor that a Red Cross certificate meets the job requirement.
Coaching at Walnut High?
California's Education Code 35179.1 requires high school coaches to be certified in first aid, CPR and AED use, and that applies across Walnut Valley Unified. The Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certificate covers those three areas in a single class. Ask your athletic director how the certificate should be submitted.
Warehouse responder on Valley Blvd or Lemon Ave?
Logistics and light-industrial sites along Valley Blvd and Lemon Ave typically need trained first aid responders for OSHA purposes, and the Red Cross states that its first aid certification courses are OSHA compliant. For a crew, onsite training at a shift change is the usual setup; for one designated responder, a Saturday noon seat works.
Child care and babysitting in Walnut
If you care for infants and young children, the pediatric half of this course is the reason to take it: CPR is practised on infant and child manikins as well as adult ones. Licensed child care has its own rules under Health and Safety Code 1596.866, so check the EMSA approved list and your licensing office before relying on it for a license.
Red Cross or AHA for a Walnut job?
Follow whichever organization your employer or program names. Health sciences programs and clinical jobs usually ask for AHA BLS, which is a different course. For non-clinical first aid and CPR, both the Red Cross certificate and the AHA Heartsaver card are widely accepted, and we teach both in West Covina.
What an onsite session in Walnut looks like
You send a headcount and a few dates through the group form, and we confirm by email or phone. On the day, the instructor arrives with adult, child and infant manikins and AED trainers and sets up in whatever room you have: a classroom, a conference room or a cleared section of warehouse floor. Everyone works through the same Red Cross skills practice as a public class, and each person who passes receives their own digital certificate.
