How long does BLS renewal take?

Under 2 hours, start to finish. Renewal students already have the fundamentals, so the class spends its time on what actually changed in the current AHA guidelines and on hands-on manikin practice, then moves straight into the skills check. Classes run at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are morning only), which makes it easy to recertify before or after a shift.

My BLS card already expired. What now?

Book the full BLS Provider class or HeartCode BLS. Our policy is that the renewal class is only for a card that is still current, so once a card has expired, even by a day, the full course is the one to take. AHA BLS cards are valid for 2 years through the end of the month they were issued, and the AHA itself publishes no grace period and leaves renewal options to the Training Center. The good news is that at CPR West Covina the renewal class and the first-time class are the same $89, the same under-2-hour session, and the same official same-day AHA eCard, so an expired card costs you nothing extra. BLS renewal or full course: which do I book?

Book this renewal class if your AHA BLS Provider card is still current. If it has expired, even by a day, or you have never been BLS certified, book the full BLS certification class in West Covina instead. Both are $89 here, and both end with the same official same-day AHA BLS Provider eCard.

Can I renew BLS early?

Yes. When a card is about to expire, the AHA's advice is to contact a Training Center about renewing, so there is no need to wait for yours to lapse. Your new card is valid for 2 years through the end of the month it is issued, which means the new expiration date counts from your renewal class, not from your old card. Can I get my renewal eCard the same day?

Yes. It makes no difference which AHA Training Center issued your current card, or which hospital or school you took it through. CPR West Covina is an official AHA Training Site, so the card you earn here is the same official AHA BLS Provider eCard, valid for 2 years and accepted at Emanate Health, Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park, Citrus Valley Medical Center, and hospitals nationwide.

Is there a faster way to renew?

If you would rather do the coursework at home, take the AHA HeartCode BLS online module first, then come in for a 1-hour in-person skills session. Either route ends with the same official AHA BLS Provider eCard. What is not possible is an online-only renewal: every AHA BLS card requires a hands-on skills check with an instructor, and any site promising otherwise is not issuing a real AHA card.
