Yes. A current BLS certification is required before you take ALS, because the advanced course assumes you already deliver high-quality CPR and understand team resuscitation basics. If your BLS card has expired, book a BLS class first; we run Red Cross BLS at 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM and AHA BLS classes at the same West Covina center, so you can get current quickly and then move straight into your ALS date.

The course costs $150, one flat price that covers your in-person session, scenario-based practice, the written exam, and the practical skills evaluation. Honest answer: it depends on the employer. Both programs cover advanced life support for adult patients, but many California hospitals specifically require an American Heart Association ACLS Provider card. Check the exact wording of your requirement before booking. We teach both at the same West Covina location, so whichever card your employer wants, we have a class for it.
