Operators, Not an Agency

Marketing Agency for Local Service Businesses

We run a local service business ourselves. We built and tested every piece of this on our own storefront first: the ads, the tracking, the site, the follow-up. Then we productized it for other local service businesses.

  • 01$21 cost per booking in our own Google Ads account

Your Google Ads numbers are probably lying to you

We found a roughly 29% conversion under-report in our own account. Real bookings were happening and Google could not see them, which means the bidding was optimizing against incomplete data and the reported cost per booking was wrong.

  • 01Tags firing on the wrong page or not at all
  • 02Bookings lost inside iframes that drop the gclid
  • 03Phone and walk-in sales never fed back to Google
  • 04Duplicate or double-counted conversion actions

Why an operator beats an agency for local service marketing

Almost every agency pitching you is a generalist. They have run ads for a plumber, a dentist, a gym, and a law firm, and they will run yours the same way. We are the other thing: owners. We spend our own money on our own ads for our own local business every month. When a lead costs too much, it is our loss, not a line in a client report. That changes what you check, what you fix, and how fast.

We test everything on our own business before we sell it

Our own storefront is a CPR training business in Los Angeles County with a 4.9 rating from 300+ Google and Yelp reviews, and it runs on this exact stack. On our own account that work produced a $21 cost per booking, 596% ROAS, and a 9.5% click through rate. Those are our numbers from our own business, not a case study we are borrowing from someone else. See the whole system in the case study.

No ramp-up period on your budget

A generalist agency spends the first 90 days learning local lead generation with your money. We start from a working playbook: which campaign structures convert for near-me searches, what a landing page needs to say to someone who wants a person at their door today, and what your cost per lead should look like when the account is healthy.

What we run for local service businesses

Take the whole stack or take the one piece that is bleeding. Most owners start with the tracking audit because it is the cheapest thing to fix and the most expensive thing to ignore.

Why are my Google Ads conversions not tracking?

This is where we start with every new account, and it is almost always worth more than a bid change. The pattern is the same across local businesses: the conversion tag lives on the contact button instead of the confirmation, a booking or quote widget is embedded in an iframe so the click ID never survives to the sale, phone calls and walk-ins never get uploaded back to Google, and a stale duplicate conversion action inflates or hides the real count.

In our own account, the gap between what Google reported and what actually sold was roughly 29%. We found it, fixed it, and fed the real sales back in. If your reported cost per lead looks bad, there is a real chance your business is healthier than your dashboard says and you are about to cut a campaign that is actually profitable. That is why the audit is free: we would rather show you the leak than argue about strategy on top of bad data.

Google Ads management for local service businesses

Search is where local demand lives, because the buyer already knows what they need and is usually on a deadline. We build tight, mostly exact-match structures around real service intent, separate the emergency buyer from the price shopper, keep near-me and city coverage in their own groups, and maintain shared negative lists so budget stops going to DIY searches, job seekers, and services you do not offer. We manage bids deliberately rather than handing the account to automation before the tracking is trustworthy.

Local SEO that compounds

Ads buy you today. SEO buys you the next three years. For a local business that means a Google Business Profile that actually gets reviewed and answered, a page for each service and each city you serve, and an internal link structure so those pages support each other rather than cannibalizing the same keyword. We write for the questions people really type: emergency service near me, how much does it cost, can you come today, are you licensed and insured.

Website builds and migrations without losing rankings

Most local business sites are slow, hard to update, and built around a brochure instead of a booking or a call. We rebuild them conversion-first and fast. If you are moving hosts or platforms, migration is the risky part: we handled an 89-page migration for our own site with full redirect mapping so nothing that ranked got orphaned. Same process for yours.

Follow-up automation: the revenue you already earned

Two cadences matter more than anything else. First, the lead who asked for a quote and went quiet: a short, personalized recovery sequence brings a meaningful share of them back before they call your competitor. Second, the repeat cycle: most local services have one, the tune-up, the re-treatment, the annual inspection, the renewal. If nobody reminds the customer, they search Google again and may not choose you. A reminder ladder turns your past customers into predictable repeat revenue.

How do I stop losing booked jobs to no-shows and cancellations?

No-shows are a marketing problem disguised as an operations problem. The fixes are unglamorous and they work: confirm instantly with a real calendar event, remind the day before and the morning of, make the address, arrival window, and price impossible to misread, and make rescheduling easy enough that a customer moves the appointment instead of ghosting it.

Meta ads, content, and landing page CRO

Meta works for the services people buy on impulse and proximity, and for filling slow days on the schedule. Content and short-form video build the trust that makes the ad cheap. And every dollar of that traffic lands somewhere: a landing page that answers the three objections a local buyer always has, are you legit, how fast, and what does it cost, will out-convert a prettier page that answers none of them.

We already understand local service economics

You should not have to explain your own business to the people marketing it. Here is what we do not need explained.

Assumed knowledge

  • 01Speed to lead winsA local lead goes cold in minutes, not days. The first business to answer usually gets the job, so follow-up speed is a revenue lever, not a courtesy.
  • 02Reviews are the storefrontThe map pack is won on rating, review count, and recency. A system that asks every happy customer for a review beats any amount of ad spend on a 3.9-star profile.
  • 03The repeat cycleAlmost every local service has a built-in repeat purchase: maintenance, seasons, renewals, re-treatments. Most owners do nothing with it. That ladder is the highest margin revenue in the business.
  • 04Capacity is the real inventoryYour inventory is crew hours and calendar slots, not clicks. Marketing that books jobs you cannot staff is a problem, so demand generation has to respect the schedule.
  • 05Phone calls are conversionsFor most local businesses the money arrives by phone. If calls are not tracked and fed back into the ad account, the account is optimizing on a fraction of the truth.
  • 06Emergency versus planned buyersThe 2am emergency buyer and the get-three-quotes planner are different customers with different pages, different ads, and different prices. Blurring them loses both.

We productized this from our own business, a CPR training company, and the same mechanics run plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, med spas, dental, tutoring, swim schools, and every other business where a local customer books a service: near-me demand, deadline-driven buyers, and a repeat date sitting in your database.

Fitting check

A generalist agency versus an operator

Same budget, same account, two very different first 90 days.

A generalist agency

  • Spends the first 90 days learning your trade with your money
  • Has never answered a 7am call from a customer
  • Treats the emergency buyer and the price shopper as one audience
  • Reports on conversions without checking they are counted correctly
  • Ignores the repeat service that is due next season
  • Books jobs nobody is scheduled to work

An operator who runs one

  • Starts from a playbook already proven on a real local business
  • Knows the first business to answer usually wins the job
  • Separates emergency intent from get-three-quotes intent
  • Reconciles reported conversions against payments that settled
  • Runs the repeat-service reminder ladder as its own revenue line
  • Plans demand around crew hours and calendar slots

Troubleshooting

Marketing agency questions, answered

What does a marketing agency for local service businesses actually do?
We run the demand side of a local service business: Google Ads, conversion tracking, local SEO, the website, landing pages, email and SMS follow-up, Meta ads, and content. The difference is that we are not learning on your budget. We operate our own local service business, so we already know what a booked job costs, what a repeat customer is worth, and which keywords waste money.
Why are my Google Ads conversions not tracking correctly?
Usually because the conversion fires on the wrong event, the tag is missing on the confirmation page, a booking widget sits inside an iframe that blocks the gclid, or phone and walk-in sales never make it back into the account. We found a roughly 29% under-report in our own account from exactly these causes. Our free audit checks for all of it before you spend another dollar.
How much do you charge?
Starting prices are listed on this page. Google Ads management and local SEO start at $500 a month each, a website build starts at $2,500, and the conversion tracking audit is free. What you pay above that depends on ad spend and how much of the stack you want us to run. Billing is monthly once we start.
What kinds of local businesses do you work with?
Any business where a local customer books a service: home services, cleaning, med spas, dental and healthcare adjacent, tutoring and training, fitness, automotive. Our own business is a certification training company, and the playbook transfers because the mechanics are the same: near-me searches, deadline-driven buyers, reviews, and repeat cycles.
Will you work with a competitor in my area?
No. We do not take two clients competing for the same customers in the same geography. Ask on the call and we will tell you straight whether your market is open.
How long before Google Ads results improve?
Tracking repairs show up immediately, because you start seeing conversions that were always happening but were never recorded. Account restructuring, negative keyword cleanup, and landing page changes usually need a few weeks of data before the cost per lead moves in a way you can trust. SEO is a longer arc, measured in months.
Do I have to move my website or my payment processor?
No. You keep your own processor and money never routes through us. If your website needs to move, we handle the migration, including redirects, so you do not lose the rankings you already have. We migrated an 89-page site for our own business without losing traffic.
What do you need from me to get started?
Read-only access to your Google Ads and Google Analytics, access to your Google Business Profile, and 30 minutes on a call. That is enough for us to run the audit and tell you exactly where the money is leaking.
