How the free audit works

Six steps. Step 3 is the one that tells you whether you have a problem at all.

6 steps

  1. Book the 15-minute call

You give read-only access to Google Ads and Analytics.

  2. Count what actually sold

We pull real bookings and payments for the same period.

  3. Compare the two numbers

The gap between them is the whole point of this.

  4. Trace every missing sale

Tag, iframe, phone call, duplicate action, or wrong event.

  5. You get the findings

A written list of each leak and what it costs.

  6. Decide after, not before

Fix it yourself or hire us. The audit is free either way.

Roughly 29% of our bookings were invisible

Without it

We found the gap in our own account by accident. The reported conversions for the month did not match what had actually settled in the payment processor. Reported was lower. Not by a rounding amount, by roughly 29%. Almost three in ten real bookings were invisible to Google.

Every one of those missing sales came from a boring cause. A booking widget sitting in an iframe, so the click ID never survived to the sale. Phone bookings that closed on a call and existed only in the payment processor. A conversion action firing on a button click instead of a completed payment. None of it looked broken from the outside, because the dashboard showed a number and numbers look true.

The damage is not the reporting. It is what you do next. A campaign that looks like it costs $30 per booking when it really costs $21 gets paused. Smart Bidding, fed the same partial data, bids away from the keywords that were quietly working. You do not just measure wrong, you optimize toward wrong, and it compounds every week nobody checks.

How do I check if my Google Ads conversion tracking is set up correctly?

Do the reconciliation before you touch a setting. Pick last month. Count the jobs that actually booked, from your payment processor or your schedule, not from Analytics. Then pull reported conversions in Google Ads for the same window. If those two numbers are close, you have a healthy account. If Ads is materially lower, you have a leak and now you know its size. Only then go looking for causes: where the tag sits, whether the booking flow crosses into an iframe, whether phone sales ever get uploaded. Most audits start with a tag inspector and never establish whether the total is even right.

Google Ads reports fewer sales than I actually made. Why?

For local service businesses it is almost always one of four things. The conversion fires on a click rather than a completed booking or payment, so any drop-off after that is counted or missed inconsistently. The booking or quote widget is embedded from another domain, and the click ID does not travel across that boundary, so the sale exists with no click attached. The customer calls instead of booking online, and that sale never leaves your invoice system. Or a duplicate conversion action was set up months ago and one of them is not counting what you think. Our own gap was roughly 29%, and it was a mix of these, not a single dramatic bug.

What is an offline conversion import and do I need one?

It is the mechanism for telling Google about sales that happened away from your website. You capture the click ID when the visitor first lands, store it with the lead, and when that lead later pays, by phone, in person, or by invoice, you upload the click ID with the sale value and date. Google then credits the keyword that produced it. If a meaningful share of your jobs close on the phone, and for most local service businesses it does, you need this. Without it your account is optimizing against the subset of buyers who happen to prefer web checkout, which is not the same as your best customers.

Does an iframe booking widget break Google Ads tracking?

Often, yes, and the failure is silent. When the widget lives on a different domain than the ad landing page, the click ID that arrived with the visit generally does not cross into it, so the completed booking has no click attached. The conversion either goes unrecorded or gets credited to direct traffic. This is why our own booking pages render the widget natively on the page instead of framing it from elsewhere: the click ID is still present at the moment the booking happens. If you must keep an iframe, the click ID has to be passed in and returned deliberately, which is work, not a checkbox.

What does the free conversion tracking audit include, and what is the catch?

You give read-only access to Google Ads and Analytics, and tell us roughly how many jobs you booked last month. We reconcile the two, trace each gap, and send you a written list of what is leaking and what it is costing. Then we get on a 15-minute call and go through it. The catch, stated plainly, is that we do this because it is the most honest sales conversation available: if your account is fine, we tell you and you owe nothing. If it is leaking, you now have a specific list you could hand to anyone. Most owners hand it back to us, but that is your call, not a condition.

Troubleshooting

Tracking audit questions, answered

Is the conversion tracking audit really free?
Yes. No contract, no card, no trial that converts. You get the findings in writing whether or not you hire us. We do it because arguing about strategy on top of bad data wastes both of our time.
What access do you need?
Read-only access to Google Ads and Google Analytics, plus a rough count of jobs you actually booked last month. Read-only is enough. We never make changes to a live account without your explicit approval.
How long does the audit take?
Usually a few business days from the moment access lands, then a 15-minute call to walk through it. The reconciliation is fast. Tracing the causes is the part that takes real time.
Will you change anything in my account?
No. The audit is read-only by design. If you want the fixes implemented, that is a separate decision and a separate quote, and nothing gets touched until you say so.
What if my tracking turns out to be fine?
Then we tell you that and you have one fewer thing to worry about. It happens. In that case the useful conversation is usually about structure or landing pages instead, and you are under no obligation to have it.
Do I need to be running a lot of spend to qualify?
No. Small accounts are often the ones losing the highest share, because the tracking was set up once by whoever built the site and never revisited. If your spend is tiny, the audit may simply tell you to spend more deliberately.
Can you audit tracking if my ads are run by another agency?
Yes, and you should get it looked at by someone who is not grading their own homework. We only need read-only access, which does not disturb their work. What you do with the findings is between you and them.
What happens after the audit if I want the fixes done?
We quote the repair work per project, based on what the audit actually found. Tag and settings fixes are usually quick. Moving a booking flow on-domain or building an offline conversion feed is real engineering and we price it as such.
