What the instructor path covers
Coursework, then the instructor course
AHA Instructor Essentials online at your own pace, then the in-person BLS Instructor Course with one of our instructor trainers.
One monitored class
You teach a real BLS class while an instructor trainer observes. Pass it and your instructor card is issued through our Training Center.
Teach under our Training Center
Aligned with us, you schedule your own classes, and your students get official AHA eCards issued through our Training Center.
Can I get BLS instructor certification in Pomona?
Two ways. Drive about 12 minutes west on the I-10 to our West Covina Training Center for the Saturday instructor course, which runs from 12:00 to 4:00 PM. Or, if five or more people at your Pomona workplace want to teach, we run the instructor course onsite at your location instead.
What do I need before the instructor course?
A current, unexpired AHA BLS Provider card. That is the one hard requirement. If yours has lapsed, renew it first, then complete AHA Instructor Essentials online before your instructor course date.
Who would a Pomona instructor teach?
Pomona has a large healthcare and health education base: Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, the osteopathic and dental colleges at WesternU, Casa Colina's rehab campus and the medical assistant programs at Pomona Adult and Career Education. AHA BLS cards last two years, so every one of those settings has people renewing all the time.
Can I teach my own classes in Pomona once I am certified?
Yes. AHA instructors teach under a Training Center, not on their own, and once you are aligned with ours you schedule classes where you want, including in Pomona. Our Launch package adds a branded website and online booking calendar so Pomona students can find and book you.
How do I get from Pomona to the training center?
Take the I-10 west for about 9.1 miles, roughly 12 minutes outside rush hour. The building is at 100 N. Barranca St with free parking, and the classroom is upstairs in Suite #255-B.
Can a Pomona clinic or school train its own instructors?
Yes, and that is the onsite option. Bring together five or more people who will teach, each with a current BLS Provider card, and we run the instructor course at your site. Your new instructors are aligned under our Training Center, so they can certify your staff without sending anyone out for class.
